The American Library Association has designated September 29 – October 6, 2007 as Banned Books Week

If, as Montaigne suggested, the label “forbidden” puts you in a mind to peruse, come by the library and borrow one of the banned.

To discern the difference between “banned” and “challenged,” as well as to learn specific details as to why individual books have been censured, visit Janet Yanosko’s website, “The Forbidden Library.”

For lists of banned books, banned authors, and who is instigating the censorship, visit Felix Castillo’s website, “Controversial and Banned Books.”
