Library Kudos

Three of our own have received notification that they will be presenting at upcoming conferences!

Linda Summers will be presenting on the NSU-BA Library Blog (she launched this blog as a class project) at the Oklahoma Library Association (OLA) Annual Conference in Tulsa on April 22nd.

The blog is now a collaborative work and she will be presenting with two of her fellow authors: Jamie Holmes and Pamela Louderback.

Following its successful launch, this blog has evolved into a library communication and marketing tool and has inspired the creation of three additional library blogs — each of which are used to enhance communication among a group of very busy co-workers.

Additionally, Jamie Holmes will be presenting her project entitled “Survivor Library: A Fun Approach to Library Instruction” at the LOEX of the West Conference (Library Orientation EXchange) in Las Vegas, June 4th-6th.  Her presentation will highlight the development of her project that uses a blog to frame library instruction.  This method allows instructors to move away from traditional methods (lecture and demonstration) to feature opportunities for hands-on practice framed within the context of a game.  Congratulations to you all!
