Search Begins for Executive Director of NSU Libraries

The Search Committee for Executive Director of NSU Libraries held its first meeting on Tuesday, March 4, 2008.

The primary charge of this committee, according to Vice President of Academic Affairs Dalton Bigbee, is “to conduct a national search and make a recommendation. . . as to the directorship of NSU’s libraries.”

The primary concern of this committee, according to the discussion held during the first meeting, is to conduct the search and recommendation in as transparent and inclusive a manner as possible.

The eleven members of this committee include:

Brian Cowlishaw, College of Liberal Arts
Kate Felzien, Coordinator, Research & Sponsored Programs
Peggy Kaney, John Vaughan Library
Julia Kwok, College of Business & Technology
Tom Salmon, Oklahoma College of Optometry
Vickie Sheffler, John Vaughan Library
Linda Summers, Broken Arrow Library
Eric Terdal, College of Science & Health Professions
Linda West, John Vaughan Library

The following is a tentative timeline as to upcoming events:

*Early April: Advertisement for director position published
*Late June: Applications reviewed
*Late August/Early September: Invitations to on-campus interviews extended to top candidates
*Mid-September/Early October: On-campus interviews held

Candidate interviews will include an open forum presentation. Members of the university community are encouraged to attend these presentations and participate in the evaluation process.
