SLA Leadership Summit 2009!

gold_domeChapter and Divisional leaders gathered last week in Savannah, Georgia, for the Leadership Summit of the Special Libraries Association.   Day One provided an overview of SLA (the big picture) and included updates on the Alignment Project as well as the Association as a whole.  The keynote address was given by Stephen McGarvey who spoke on Strategic Communication.  Day Two was geared toward building your Leadership Toolkit and included “Surviving Your First Month,” “10 Top Leadership Tips,” and an overview of the SLA Leadership Resources (web pages) and Toolkit.   The second day also included the Chapter, Division, and Joint riverfrontCabinet meetings.  The one thing that SLA has in common with NSU?  We are both entering our Centennial Anniversary year!  Prior to the start of the Summit, the Board of Directors met for the Executive and Open meetings.  A very productive week.  But despite the sunny picture above, the cold, artic air found its way to Savannah . . . unseasonably cold temperatures were with us all week long.
